Mosquito Treatment in Palo Alto (College Terrace): Monday, August 26

Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been detected in areas of Palo Alto. The County of Santa Clara Vector Control District will be conducting mosquito control treatment on Monday, August 26 starting at 10 p.m. in zip codes 94301, 94303, and 94306.

The treatment will take approximately 2-4 hours and will use truck-mounted equipment to help reduce the mosquito population in the area and the risk of West Nile virus.

To check if your home is within the treatment area, click below to view the interactive treatment map and enter your address in the search bar in the top right corner.

Per the County, there is no need to relocate during the adult-mosquito-control treatment, but those who wish to minimize exposure for family members or pets may choose to close windows and remain inside during the scheduled time period. All pesticides used are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for use in public areas and are widely used by vector control agencies throughout California.

To anyone reading above message from College Terrace E-news,
I just checked the map referenced above, and none of College Terrace or Evergreen Park will be affected by the Vector Control staff spraying on Monday August 26 on/after 10 PM to prevent the spread of infected mosquitoes. The center of the area identified on the map is where the County Vector Control personnel identified the small area of concern. The map shows clearly that the western boundary for the sprayers will be on the ALMA side of the Caltrain tracks.
